    Lasers

Some of us have begun to address these problems with methods on the next level. The correct laser, used in the correct manner, affords treatment on a selective microcellular and molecular level. Among other benefits, lasers can be absolutely site specific, cell specific, can treat nearly any of the difficult locations without conventional "open" surgery, and there is no such thing as a resistant organism. The methods we use occur so quickly that there can be little if no discomfort. The target (germ) is heated to about 2000 degrees in 1 ten thousandth of a second. The most that will remain is a tiny flake of sterile charcoal. The laser is a true "equal opportunity killer" of microorganisms-immediately, definitively-with virtually no side effects.

In the past ten years, we have worked with half a dozen different types of lasers. Our core staff all have advanced laser qualifications. Dr. Kassa is among the first few clinicians to qualify (in 1993) to instruct and test master's level candidates for The Academy of Laser Dentistry, where he is a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors.

    We presently employ three lasers:

  • one for the above procedures
  • another for high integrity, high strength, high speed advanced materials processing (bonding and curing)
  • a third (very new) laser locates decay with no ionizing radiation much earlier than it can be found with conventional methods, at an accuracy rate above 90%.
(X-rays and picks miss 50% of lesions until they are much larger.)
